Divorce and separation services

Whether you are divorcing, separating, or ending a civil partnership, our expert team of family lawyers will help you move forward with confidence. The breakdown of a marriage or civil partnership has many implications, legal and otherwise. During this challenging time, it is important to understand the potential outcomes of both separation and divorce.

This often means ending the legal relationship, unless both parties prefer to remain married or in a civil partnership whilst living separately. Arrangements for any dependent children will also need to be considered, including their living situation and the contact they will have with the other parent if they live with only one.

Future financial arrangements should be carefully considered, especially in cases of separation and divorce where the marriage or civil partnership is not immediately dissolved. These arrangements may include decisions regarding the matrimonial home, division of assets, potential spousal support, and pension allocations. Given the complexity of these matters, seeking professional guidance from an experienced family lawyer is essential.

If your marriage or civil partnership has ended, we can provide guidance through the process of separation and divorce. Additionally, we can assist you in reaching agreements for your children, preferably through mutual consent, as well as establishing arrangements for child support.

We specialise in facilitation financial arrangements outside of court proceedings, aiming for negotiated or mediated settlements. These agreements can be formalised into either a court order or a written separation agreement, particularly if mediate divorce or civil partnership dissolution is not sought.

In cases where agreement on financial matters is unattainable, court intervention may become necessary. We are experienced separation and divorce lawyers and offer support throughout the intricate process of contested court proceedings.

To pre-empt potential disagreements and avoid contentious court battles, it is advisable to establish clear terms for financial outcomes in advance, where possible. This can be achieved through a legally binding prenuptial or postnuptial agreement, depending on whether it is executed before or after a marriage or civil partnership.

We can guide you through the process of creating and drafting such agreements, ensuring they meet with your unique needs and circumstances.

Whether you are separating, divorcing, ending a civil partnership, or want to enter into a pre- or postnuptial agreement, our expert team of family lawyers will help you move forward with confidence.
