Resolution Together

Resolution Together is a new, revolutionary service offered by Walker Family Law. Hiring a single lawyer, together, enables a couple to develop a way to resolve their issues, with both parties receiving advice at the same time with a qualified and experienced lawyer facilitating discussions and negotiations. This supports a mutually amicable and fair method to finding a solution that works for everyone.

One couple, using one lawyer.

We are excited to be one of the first firms in the country to offer this innovation approach to our clients, providing legal advice and assistance to those going through separation, without resorting to a court-based battle with their former partner.

How does Resolution Together work?

Resolution Together is designed to provide couples with legal advice at the same time by the same lawyer, allowing them to work together harmoniously to resolve issues that arise during a separation. This approach eliminates a sense of competition that can arise when each person receives separate legal advice.

Initially, the couple can have a joint meeting, which must be followed by individual assessment meetings to determine the suitability of Resolution Together for their case. Once the assessment meetings are complete, and in financial cases, the couple will share all relevant financial information with their lawyer and each other. Then subsequent meetings will be tailored to the couple’s specific needs and concerns, with the flexibility to bring in additional expertise as needed, such as accountants, financial advisers, or pension experts.

At the heart of Resolution Together is a qualified and experienced lawyer who will facilitate discussions and negotiations between the couple. The meetings are entirely guided by the couple’s needs and designed to answer their specific questions.

From conflict to collaboration – Reaching workable solutions

One of the significant advantages of Resolution Together is that it is not just for divorce; any family dispute can be solved using this approach. Unlike mediation, legal advice is available throughout, and unlike collaborative law, only one lawyer is needed.

Our team of Resolution Together trained lawyers can ensure your agreement meets court requirements and can help you obtain a Judge’s approval to finalise your case, giving you peace of mind. Additionally, you and your former partner remain in control of your case, and the timetable and structure of the meetings are designed by you.

The introduction of the Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Act paved the way for Resolution Together, enabling couples to collectively file for marriage dissolution for the first time in legal history. Developed by Resolution in response to this legal milestone, Resolution Together offers a collaborative and constructive alternative to traditional legal processes.
