Mariya Gocheva

Associate Solicitor

Background

Mariya qualified in 2023 and specialises in Care Proceedings, disputes between parents about their children, and Family Law Act proceedings involving domestic abuse.

Mariya graduated from the University of Oxford in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Law with French Law. She then went on to complete the Accelerated Legal Practice Course at BPP University, graduating with Distinction in 2020.

Earlier in her career, Mariya spent three months volunteering with the Capital Appeals Project in New Orleans, a non-profit law office that supports individuals in Louisiana who have been sentenced to the death penalty. While Mariya was completing her training at Clifford Chance, a Magic Circle law firm, Mariya regularly advised at a Domestic Abuse pro bono clinic. These formative experiences shaped Mariya’s commitment to helping vulnerable clients, and upon qualifying as a solicitor, Mariya transitioned from City practice to specialise in family law.

Mariya is passionate about using the law to support and empower vulnerable individuals. Mariya has a thorough, empathetic and trauma-informed approach, and she strives to deliver positive outcomes for her clients and their children whilst offering clients clear guidance and sensitive support throughout the legal process.
