We are recruiting – Family Law Solicitor /(potential) Mediator

Talented Family Law Solicitor needed to join fastest growing family law team in South West (Winners Modern Law Awards 2020 – Boutique Practice (11+Employees)).

The successful candidate will already have trained as a mediator or will wish to add mediation qualification to their professional skills (we can provide a route to accreditation)

About Us

We were founded by Ian Walker in 2003. We have grown from being simply Ian and a computer to a team of 12 solicitors and mediators. We believe that we now have a team of family lawyers as strong as anyone else in the South-West.

Ian Walker trained as a mediator in 1996 and was one of the first solicitors to gain mediation accreditation with Resolution. He is currently accredited with both the FMC and the Law Society. Ian is accredited for consultation with children in mediation and is also a PPC. Ian is a former trustee of the Family Mediators Association and is a current member of Resolution’s DR Committee. Ian is also the long-standing chair of the Devon region of Resolution. Lauren Preedy, Head of our Divorce Team is Chair of Somerset Resolution.

We hold a legal aid contract for mediation and can provide a route to mediation accreditation.

We are based in modern offices in Exeter and have a network of offices/locations from where we meet clients which is currently: Bath, Bristol, Honiton, Plymouth, Shaftesbury, Taunton, Torquay, Wells, Weston-Super-Mare and Yeovil. We are open to this network expanding further.

As well as being the winners of the Modern Law Awards 2020 – Boutique Law Firm (11+ employees), Ian was also highly commended in the Law Society Recognising Excellence Awards 2019 in the category of practice manager.

The Role

Family Law specialist solicitor

You will be part of our Private Law Children Team. (There is the option of combining a private law children caseload with a divorce or public law children caseload.

You will either have trained as a mediator or will be strongly motivated to do so.

We will be able to supply mediation experience to enable a successful candidate to achieve accreditation.

Applicants who are Law Society or Family Mediation Council Accredited also welcome to apply.

Ideally full-time but part-time also considered.

You

You will be committed to Resolution and its ideals and you will be very motivated to the idea of combining a mediation caseload with a legal caseload.

Location

You will be based in Exeter.

Flexible working is possible. Increasing flexibility and opportunity for homeworking being linked to experience.

Pay

Market rate salary.
