Family Mediator/Lawyer Mediator wanted

We are seeking a family mediator to join our team. This could be a lawyer mediator or a pure family mediator.

We currently have more mediation enquiries than we can reasonably deal with.

Ideally the successful candidate will be accredited with the FMC or Law Society – but we will also consider candidates who have completed their core training and who are working towards qualification.

Full-time/part-time/employed/consultant?

We are happy to be flexible over the employment arrangement of the successful candidate. We are happy to consider a range of options from part-time consultant (fee share) to full-time (employed).

Pure mediator or lawyer mediator?

We are happy to consider candidates who are qualified lawyers and who would also wish to run a legal caseload in addition to a mediation caseload.

We are also open to the right candidate becoming head of our mediation team.

Pay

Reasonable Fee Share or market rate salary both an option

(our normal fee share arrangement is 50/50 of fees recovered).

About Us

• We were founded by Ian Walker in 2003. We have grown from being simply Ian and a computer to a team of 12 solicitors and mediators. We believe that we now have a team of family lawyers as strong as anyone else in the South-West.
• Ian Walker trained as a mediator in 1996 and was one of the first solicitors to gain mediation accreditation with Resolution. He is currently accredited with both the FMC and the Law Society. Ian is accredited for consultation with children in mediation and is also a PPC. Ian is a former trustee of the Family Mediators Association and is a current member of Resolution’s DR Committee. Ian is also the long-standing chair of the Devon region of Resolution.
• We hold a legal aid contract for mediation.
• We are based in modern offices in Exeter and have a network of offices/locations from where we meet clients which is currently: Bath, Bristol, Honiton, Plymouth, Shaftesbury, Taunton, Torquay, Wells, Weston-super-Mare and Yeovil. We are open to this network expanding further.
• We are the winners of the Modern Law Awards 2020 – Boutique Law Firm (11+ employees). Ian was also highly commended in the Law Society Recognising Excellence Awards 2019 in the category of practice manager.

Location

We are based in Exeter. Given the uptake of mediation by videoconference we are very much open to consider candidates who are based outside of the south-west and who are comfortable with the provision of online mediation.
