David Howell-Richardson: Divorce Specialist

We are very sorry to announce the retirement of David Howell-Richardson.

David joined us as a consultant solicitor in April 2018 after a long legal career in Devon – predominantly with Stones Solicitors in Exeter (who eventually merged with Trowers and Hamlin).

David qualified as a solicitor in 1978. He came to specialise in family law and was for many years a member of the Law Society Children Panel and on the Law Society Family Mediation Panel. Over the years David will have assisted thousands of families with his child focused but tenacious approach. David has been a committed and active member of Resolution since its formation. He is also a lovely chap and one of the politest people most of us have ever known.

David has been a popular member of our team and has been a pleasure to work with. David has very much enjoyed working with our team – the core of which have known each other professionally for many years. David’s wise advice has assisted with the significant progression that our practice has made over the last 2 ½ years

The coronavirus pandemic inevitably led to David homeworking and reviewing his future priorities. Sadly, this has led to David taking the momentous decision in October not to renew his practising certificate with the Law Society for 20/21 and to retire from legal practice.

Unfortunately, coronavirus means that we will not be able to have a proper retirement bash for David until at least the spring (just as we have had to postpone the moving in celebration following our relocation to our new home at Vantage Point, Pynes Hill, Exeter). But when circumstances allow, we will clearly be doing something to thank David for his enormous contribution both to our practice and the wider family law world.

Thank you, David, – and we hope that you have many happy years ahead of you with your lovely wife –Sue as well as your children and grandchildren
